The Hills Bulls have lost 24-22 to the Auburn Warriors to be eliminated from the Ron Massey Cup finals.

After a big loss to the Wentworthville Magpies in week one, the Bulls were eager to win their way through to the preliminary final.

Starting with a try to Jayden Horo in the sixth minute, it appeared as if Hills would follow the script and book its place against minor premiers St Marys.

The sides traded blows with Auburn taking the lead into the break at 14-10.

The second half continued much the same as the first and although Horo scored his second with four minutes left in the match, it wasn’t enough to snatch the win.

It wasn’t all bad news for the Bulls with hooker Heath L’Estrange awarded the Ron Massey Cup player of the year at the Brad Fittler Medal earlier this week.

Speaking to the Hills News last week, L’Estrange, who grew up playing for the Bulls, said his success this season “is a credit to the boys who have all worked well all year”.
