New program: Applications are now open for Penrith's first youth orchestra.

Talented young musicians can now apply to be part of the inaugural Penrith Youth Orchestra.

Together in 2015, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre and the Penrith Symphony Orchestra created the Penrith Strings Program.

Due to its success, the strings program will expand in 2018 to create the Penrith Youth Orchestra.

Applications are now open and close Monday, August 21.

The orchestra is after talented wind, brass and percussion students, wishing to build new skills and pursue a career in music. There are also limited places available for string students.

It has been designed as an extension activity for secondary and advanced primary music students.
