Lachlan Rose has covered plenty of ground in his footballing career.

The speedy winger has grown up in Kellyville and previously played in the Central Coast Mariners youth system.

After being selected in the Combined Catholic Colleges (CCC) NSW side for the All-School Championships, Rose, 18, aims to keep pushing through the ranks.

“It always feels good but last year I thought I performed better but I didn’t get in,” he said.

“This year, I didn’t perform as well but I’m happy I made it and the goal is making the Australian Schoolboys team.”

It was a busy off-season for Rose, who plays for the Blacktown City under-20s in the National Premier Leagues after coming from the North Sydney-based NPL 2 side Spirit FC.

Rose scored 22 goals in 26 matches in under-18s at the Spirit and debuted for the first team at the end of the season.

Despite the great season, Rose said he’s happy with his move to Blacktown.

“It’s a big jump from NPL 2 and I’m happy with my progress so far - it’s like I’ve fallen into place,” he said.

“The quality here is so good and the coaches are excellent.”

Rose said making the CCC squad was a big achievement with hard work and extra training paying off.

With dreams of making it as a professional, he knows the effort he’ll have to put in.

“I’ve always wanted to make it a dream come true,” he said.

“I’ve just got to work hard to get there. If I can put in those extra hours of training, I’ll eventually get there.”

The NSW All-Schools Championships is on June 19 and 20 at Valentine Sports Park.
