THERE will be fun and games when a community consultation is held for the new Livvi’s Place at Bernie Mullane Sports Complex this Friday.
The existing playground will be upgraded into a Livvi’s Place, which is a play area catering for children of all abilities.
Friday’s consultation will give children, parents and members of the community the chance to have their say on plans for the new playground.
Children can also play on the existing equipment, read books at a pop-up library, create art and craft works, and munch on some tasty snacks.
They can also dress up as superheroes and participate in a superhero workshop.
Mayor Yvonne Keane said the Livvi’s Place playground will enhance Bernie Mullane Sports Complex as a great place for families in The Hills.
When Cr Keane visited Bernie Mullane Sports Complex this week to promote this Friday’s community consultation sessions, there was a lot of families enjoying their school holidays at the playground.
“One of my key goals is to promote an inclusive, vibrant and connected community, and I am incredibly proud that council and the community will work hand-in-hand with the Touched By Olivia Foundation to breathe new life into this already much-loved children’s play space,” Cr Keane said.
“We want to engage with residents in a meaningful way to understand their aspirations so the best decisions can be made in partnership with those who will use the park.
“Bernie Mullane Reserve is already immensely popular with residents and I want to make sure this treasured community asset is enjoyed by as many people as possible for years to come.”
Community consultation sessions will be held from 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm.
There are currently three Livvi’s Place playgrounds in Sydney at Ryde, Jordan Springs and Campbelltown.
Two more will soon open in Bankstown and Cronulla, but the one planned for Kellyville will give local families an all-abilities playground without having to travel to another part of Sydney.
People can register at the events section The Hills Council’s Facebook page, or via the council’s website.
The Hills Council is also running an online survey.
